The preservation of art and cultural heritage involves multiple actions, from the development of cultural policies to specific activities aimed at minimizing deterioration to ensure the conservation of collections. These activities involve various disciplines, such as conservation and restoration, which apply work methodologies that include an inevitable initial step due to its relevance:
- Registration and documentation.
When a work is registered, its condition, characteristics and scope of possible deteriorations are established, conservation priorities and preservation measures are suggested. The registration of a collection allows to establish preventive conservation proposals such as improvements in the storage system, monitoring plan, security measures, with the aim of preserving the whole collection.
